My latest Steal

So I went to a garage sale on my way to the gym on Saturday. I found this talking Dora kitchen and for those of you who don't know, Cheyenne is OBSESSeD with Dora. She loves her. Anyway, I had been wanting to get some sort of kitchen set, but was planning to wait until we could finish our bonus room, so that our house wouldn't be overflowing with toys.

I asked how much they wanted for it, and they said $25. I looked at it and it was a little dirty, like it had been sitting in a garage for about 5 years... but it was full of mini pots and pans and food and stuff. I was having the hardest time deciding whether or not to get it. We really didn't need it, but I knew Cheyenne would love it. I asked if they would be willing to take $20, and they said sure, so I bought it.

I went to the gym and thought about it the whole time and was regretting making such an impulsive buy of something we really don't need. I probably would have taken it back if it was a store and not a garage sale, but obviously that is not really possible for a garage sale item. I brought it inside and cleaned it all off and washed all the mini dishes and food. Cheyenne LOVES it! I replaced the batteries and all the talking buttons work. Cheyenne has been playing with it non-stop ever since.

I was still feeling really guilty for buying it though, until last night I decided to look it up to see how much it would be worth and I only found it on Amazon and ebay. It was $300 new!!!! I couldn't believe it! The cheapest I could find it was for $77 used with shipping. I also found a listing for the food pieces for $14 and the pots and pans for $80. Even though we really didn't need it, at least I don't feel guilty anymore! I am now so excited about our great deal and feel like if we really wanted or needed to, we could sell it and at least get our $20 back. Although, I don't think Cheyenne will be letting me sell it anytime soon!!
