Sitting up

This video is really short and so funny! Cheyenne is doing better at sitting up on her own, if she is looking at the ground, she can catch herself when she starts to fall, but the minute she gets distracted by anything else, she falls right over! We were trying so hard to get a picture of her sitting up and looking at the camera, but this turned out better! So funny:)

TWO FRONT TEETH

Cheyenne has had these two front teeth for a while now, but I have not been able to get a picture. Today I took some pictures and when I was putting them on the computer, I realized you could see her teeth, so of course I had to put it on the blog. In other news, we have been working so hard to try to buy our house, and we hopefully have everything worked out now, and will hopefully close at the end of June right before we leave for our trip to Washington! We met the neighbors and talked to them for a long time and they are a young couple about our age. They have the most adorable TINY mini dachshund (wiener dog) which are the kind of dogs I grew up having, but this one is a good dog, not like the ones we had... I bet Cheyenne will love growing up playing with him. His name is Prince Charles of Athens, but they call him Charlie. I thought that was so cute. Anyway, we need all your prayers that everything works out with this house!

Running with the Dawgs

{Sometimes it is easier just to do like ten posts at once. So here are 4 new posts for today}

Jeff and I really wanted to do something fun for Memorial Day, so we decided to run the "Running with the Dawgs" 5k at the University of Georgia. I got up at 5 am to feed Cheyenne, get stuff packed and we left at 6 am. We picked up the missionaries to be the babysitters (if I was going to pay for a race, I wanted to go fast!!). The original plan was for me to wear the new garmin watch (my Mother's Day present) and keep us at 7 minute mile pace for the first two miles. At the last second, I decided I didn't want to wear the watch, so I told Jeff to wear it and I would just stay with him... BIG MISTAKE!! At the shot of the gun, I had to sprint to keep up with him! Needless to discover, we were going WAY faster than 7 minute mile pace. A little after a mile, I told Jeff to just go ahead because I was dying. THEN we got a nice surprise that the whole second half of the race was UPHILL. It was not a pleasant discovery. I kept asking the workers, "how much longer." They were annoyingly happy and would say just up this hill. To me, just up this hill means about 200-400 yards. Apparently just up this hill to them was still a whole other mile which is a third of the race! Well, we finished the run without puking (barely), and overall we were pretty satisfied with our results. Especially considering the very fast start and the long hills. Jeff finished 3rd in his age group and 26th out of 322 overall. I finished 3rd in my age group and 53rd overall. Jeff was under 7 minute mile pace and I was at 7:30. We are hoping the Seattle half marathon will not have a lot of hills, but we have been thinking about it and it probably does. We both really want to get under 8 minute miles for the half, so we have about one month left to train hard for that goal. I hope so bad we can do it!! My last long run was 14 miles and was really really painful, so hopefully I will have no more runs like that one. Running is such a roller coaster, you never know day to day how your run will feel, and you have to try not to let it affect your mood, motivation and attitude. I think that is why it is constantly challenging and so good not only for your body, but for your mental toughness in life. I am so happy that Jeff is finally into running now. It is so fun to share that with him and hopefully we will be able to share that with our kids too:)

Almost Crawling Cheyenne

This is a video of Cheyenne trying to get a piece of paper. As you can see, she will most likely be crawling within the next couple of months. Once she sees something she wants, she is determined to get it. And she destroys paper very quickly. We are just having so much fun with her, she is the cutest baby ever (in our biased opinion)! We love her to pieces:)

Cheyenne update

It has been a while since I posted updates on Cheyenne. She just over 5 and a half months old and she is still such a good baby. She is so happy all the time. She has eaten, rice cereal, oatmeal, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, green beans and peas. She is a better eater when someone besides Mommy is feeding her. She is so close to crawling, we will post a video of her squirming to get what she wants in a bit. Pretty much if she sees something she wants, she will get to it sooner or later. I love this last picture of Cheyenne and Jeff sleeping. I walked in to find them like that and I couldn't believe Cheyenne fell asleep like that, so I had to take a picture.

Jeff's Stitches

This was a couple of weeks ago, I kept meaning to post, but got distracted. It had been a rough week at school for Jeff, he got in the middle of a giant girl fight, tried to break it up and got attacked in the meantime. However, these stitches are from a run in with one of the students in his class. They were playing basketball and collided heads. Jeff called me, and I came over to drive him to get some stitches. It has been about two weeks since he has had the stitches removed and everything looks beautiful:) The other PE teacher, her husband, and her teacher's assistants sent Jeff balloons and a little Georgia beanie baby bear to the house the next day.

Thankful Thursday

1. I am thankful for our two cars. We have a 1994 Ford Ranger Pick-up and a Hyundai Sonata. They are both white and I love that they match! Most of all, I am so so grateful to have two reliable cars that we haven't had any problems with (knock on wood). It is so nice to not have to worry about your car breaking down every time you  drive somewhere!

2. I am thankful for the beautiful Georgia weather! I LOVE how it is so warm here and barely cold! I love warm weather, it makes me happy!

3. I am sooooooo thankful for my amazing handsome husband and my beautiful daughter! They bring me more joy and happiness than anything in the world!

4. I am thankful for the CD Joseph Smith- A Nashville Tribute to the Prophet. Best music ever!! I have been listening to it all week. There is a song about Emma Smith that touches me every time. Cheyenne loves it too, everytime I sing the Emma song, she gets quiet and looks up at me and smiles while I sing it to her. I am also thankful for all the people in early church days who sacrificed so much for the gospel to be on the earth. They went through some pretty tough persecution, when I hear about the things they went through, it makes me realize how lucky I am that I can worship as I please in peace (for the most part).

5. I am thankful for HGTV! Jeff and I just discovered this channel. Does anyone else ever watch it? It is awesome! It has great shows about how to decorate your home, remodel your home, people looking for homes, etc. We always watch it together while we are eating our dinner. I don't usually watch TV but I will if I am watching it with Jeff, because it feels like a family thing:) Our favorite is House Hunters and we always guess which house they will pick. Love it:)

6. I am thankful for my planner!! I don't know if I have done this one before or not, but I love my planner!! I write everything down that I ever want to do and then I don't have to worry about forgetting it. It keeps me sane, and it keeps my head clear for more important things. I love using a planner!

7. I am thankful for time and am somehow always wishing I had more of it! I think people are too busy in the world today. We take time for granted! I want to try to schedule less things in my day, so I can have more time to enjoy life and enjoy my family and the people around me. I don't mean to be lazy, but just have time to do what you feel like at that point and not always rushing to get something done.

8. I am thankful for the many people who are kind to me. Even just little things, I love when people are so thoughtful. I always feel like people are just being so nice. I feel like I come in contact with angels everyday! I hope that once in a while, I can be someone's angel on that day.

9. I am thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It only brings me happiness and I love reading about Christ and his time on earth. I love praying and feeling comfort and assurance in the choices I make. I love the feeling I get when I serve others, and need to do more service. I love that as I grow closer to Christ, I grow closer to my family:) I love going to church every Sunday and promising to follow the commandments and be a better person in the week to come and being forgiven for the mistakes I have made the week before.

10. I am thankful for our computer!! It is the best computer ever and I love that pretty much anything you ever need to know or wonder about, you can just type it into swagbucks and find out about it! I waste way too much time on the computer, but I don't really watch tv so that is how I rationalize:)

Wishful Wednesday

I thought today was Wednesday.... I get confused sometimes. This wednesday I don't have much to wish for... I got an email about a deal at the Atlanta Melting Pot restaurants. Has anyone ever been there? I have wanted to try it ever since I heard about it a couple years ago, because I would LOVE a fondue date night (Everybody Loves Raymond... anyone???)! I just can't bring myself to pay $100 for two people to eat one meal.  I do wish I would have gone when Jeff and I were both working, so it would be out of my system:) I guess it is always good to have somewhere you wish you could go so you can put it on your Wishful Wednesday post!! Ever since I have started this Wishful Wednesday post thing at least half of my wishes end up coming true! I think it is magic!! (Or Cadence sending me my wishes in the mail....), haha...no, but really I like wishing for things:)  Oh, so here are my wishes

1. Fondue Date Night at the Melting Pot

2. A really good vacuum that picks up all my hair that is falling out everywhere.

3. A family reunion with all of my brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, since I missed our last Thanksgiving one... I don't even remember a time when ALL of us were together. That would be fun. This was the last time most of us got together, Thanksgiving 2006, I believe. I picked this picture because my Brother-in-law, Bruce's face is so funny trying to get his daughter to smile and Jeff is fixing his outfit, haha...

4. That whatever Heavenly Father has in his plan for Jeff and I happens, that we will make the right choices of where to work and live, and if that includes us getting our awesome house that it will hurry up and go through, so we can move in!!!

5. That I can be a good example to everyone I come in contact with:)

Trip to Washington

Tuesday April 21

I went to Washington for my friend Diane's wedding a week ago. Overall, I had a great time. I flew in on Tuesday the 21st and the flight went great. I was really nervous about it since I had never flown with a baby and I thought my bag was for sure over 50 lbs which would cost an extra $50. Jeff left work a little early to take me to the airport and I was on my way. I went to check in my bag and it was only 43 lbs, I was so excited I started to clap, haha. In my experiences with airports in the past, people are very rude. When you are traveling with a little baby that is not the case at all. EVERYONE was soo nice and went out of their way to help me, even the airport workers. It was a really good experience. While I was waiting for my flight to leave, our realtor called and told us the sellers had made a really great counter offer that we decided to accept. Now we are just filling out a lot of paperwork and hoping everything works out. My friend Diane flew into the airport at the same time as me so I got to see her there and meet her fiance which was so fun. Then my Dad picked me up and it had been a while since I had seen him so that was really nice. We went to my brother Brian's house in Seattle. It was so fun because they have a daughter, Heidi who is 3 and I haven't seen her since she was a baby. Then they have another daughter, Hannah, who is only 2 months younger than Cheyenne. I will have to get those pictures from my sister-in-law, Dana. Then we picked up my step-mom, Karen from the temple and went home to my Dad's for the night.

Wednesday April 22

The next morning, we went for a run around Lake Padden, it was really great to do that again, I have ran there countless times growing up. Dad and Karen pushed Cheyenne around so I got to run two laps fast. Later that day I met Jeff's sisters Tanya and Kristen for lunch at On Rice, which is my favorite Thai food restaurant in Bellingham. It was so good. After that we stopped by State Farm to see Tim and Bobby, but only Bobby was there. Bobby is Jeff's brother and it was so fun to see him with Cheyenne. Then we went to Jeff's parents house to visit them and Jeff's grandparents. It was so good to see everyone and felt so good to be in Bellingham again. Here is a picture of Haley and Grandma Bennum reading to Cheyenne:
My mom picked me up from their house around 8, and it was really great to see her too. It had been since Cheyenne was born since I had seen her. We stayed the night at Mom's that night. It was really great to look through all my picture albums and read my old journals that are all still being stored at her house.

Thursday April 23

Mom came home for lunch to get me so I could use her car. I took her back to school and it was really funny because I met some of Jeff's old teachers (she works at MMS). Let's just say Jeff was a normal obnoxious middle school student (to be nice).... when I told one teacher who I was married to and that he was a teacher himself now, this certain teacher laughed and laughed. I could tell he was thinking that now he will get a taste of his own medicine. I was rather embarrassed and assured him that Jeff has actually grown up now and is not a middle schooler anymore, and is actually a very good person... anyway, that was a funny experience. I went to get my hair highlighted at the Bellingham Beauty School after that because they are so cheap, but while I was there I remembered why they are so cheap because they take sooooo long. Luckily I had Cheyenne with me to entertain me. Then I went to Michaels to get supplies for the Bachelorette party. I quickly ran Cheyenne home for Mom to watch and I was off to the party. It was kind of not really a bachelorette party since everyone was married, but I guess Diane was still a bachelorette so it counts. First we went to dinner at Red Robin:
Then we went back to the house for dessert and we all made a craft for Diane to hang in her new home:

Just a bit about Diane... we played against each other in high school and in college (she played at BEHS and SLCC) then we went to BYU together and decided not to be enemies anymore... haha. We were going to be roommates, but I decided to get married instead. When I was the head coach at Kearns, I was so so so lucky to have her as my assistant coach and we ended up being roommates after all! She lived with Jeff and I for only a few months, but we had so much fun together and Jeff was the brunt of the polygamist jokes at the high school, but he put up with it. She is just a great person, a great athlete, and a great friend! I was so excited to be a part of her wedding and that she found such a great guy to marry:)

Friday April 24 WEDDING DAY!!!

I drove to Burlington in Mom's car for the wedding. It went really well and Diane and Dennis seemed so happy. The sealer was Jeff's cousin Eli's grandpa, so that was kind of cool
after I finally figured out how I recognized him. Diane's cousin Brittany watched Cheyenne during the wedding, so that was very nice. It would have been nice to have someone to hold Cheyenne during all the pictures, but everyone had to work, darn it! It was so fun, but a long day. Here are some pictures at the temple:
After the temple, we went straight to the reception and helped finish the decorations. I had forgotten the stuff to decorate Diane's car, so luckily I called my mom and she saved the day with a speedy delivery! The reception was in an old schoolhouse and it was absolutely beautiful! It looked like it was in a magazine and I just loved it. I love this picture of Grandma Anderson-Crockett with Cheyenne: They both have such pretty blue eyes:

I did have a top 5 most embarrassing moment of my life at the reception. All I will say is that I have been able to do backflips since I was about 6 and figured I would be able to do them for the rest of my life. Well, apparently I have lost some strength since my pregnancy (the last one I did was about a year ago when I was about 3 months pregnant). I attempted one during one of the dances where the bridal party was dancing. So embarrassing! My legs and arms were all bent and ugly and I pretty much landed on my knees. The first time I did it I thought, oh I just messed up, let me do it again. Same thing... twice in a row!!! Never again. Well, the first thing on my to do list after we move near Athens is to take a tumbling class at the gym to get me back in shape.... sorry everyone who had to witness that and was probably very embarrassed for me. We got home late on that night and I was sooo exhausted I went right to sleep.

Saturday April 26

The next day it felt good to sleep in and have a whole day to just relax and hang out with my mom. We met one of my best friends from high school, Christine, in the morning for breakfast at the Bagelry. It was so good to see her because I hadn't seen her for so long and she is such an awesome person. She was a very good influence on me in high school and has been a great friend to me for the time I have known her. I wish we lived closer so we could get together more often.
The rest of the day, my mom went with me to the Bellingham stores I missed: Great Harvest Bread, Grocery Outlet, Deals Only, Wee Ones Reruns, and the mall. As you can see we bought matching shirts and sunglasses. We love to match:) It was a great day, but I wore Mom and Cheyenne both out I think. We finished the day off by giving ourselves pedicures.

Sunday April 27

We went to Ferndale 2nd ward for church and it was so fun to see all the cute people in that ward. I was surprised, because Jeff's dad gave a talk. It was about temples and he did a great job. It was fun to be there for that. After church I packed up my stuff and went to Jeff's parents house. All of Jeff's brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and grandparents were there. It was so great to spend the day with them, and I can't believe how big all of the kids have gotten! Jeff''s cousin, Katy, Paul and Avery also stopped by for a while and it was great to see them. Here are a few pics:

I spent the night there and stayed up late with Connie watching The Apprentice, which I have never seen before, but it was pretty entertaining. I thought I would be addicted, but I forgot to watch it yesterday so I guess I am not.

Monday April 28

Dad and Karen came to get me from Connie and Frank's. We stopped by Grandma and Grandpa Slesk's house to say goodbye. They are so cute, I love that they are my grandparents now, since I have known them my whole life and they have been so great to me. They are just really good people. For my 17th birthday (before I ever knew who Jeff was) they bought me a cake and we had a little party at Jeff's uncle Tim's house with them. It was so thoughtful and totally out of nowhere. They must have known I would marry their grandson one day!! Haha. I can't believe I didn't get a picture with them and Cheyenne, I will have to when we go back in June. We then went to the lake to run again, it was a beautiful day for Bellingham. Nice and sunny at least. Then we finally met my Grandma and Howard at the Asian buffet. It was so good to see them because it had been a year and a half! My grandma is such a trooper! She just keeps so busy always up and out doing something. She just loves life and gets the most out of it. She is awesome and my last living grandparent, you can tell why. She wants to live to be 100 and she probably will!

I spent the rest of the day watching home videos of my glory days of high school and college volleyball, haha. It was fun.

Tuesday April 29

I just spent the day hanging out with Dad and Grandma. It was great to spend my last day with them. Cheyenne was finally ready for the balancing act trick:

Mom picked me up around 4pm to take me to Seattle. First we had to stop by Janice and Glenn's house (my friend Christine's parents). They have just been so great to me and are such fun people:
Then we were off to Brian and Dana's. It was great to stay with them, because I hadn't seen them for over 3 years and it was just good to spend time with them. Mom visited for a while, then had to make the trip home.

Wednesday April 29

I dressed Cheyenne in her little husky outfit I got at Wee Ones Reruns, because I knew her dad would love to see her wearing it:

Dana took me to the airport and everything went great again. Except Cheyenne was a little fussier, but I sat next to nice people. When we changed planes in Denver, I thought I better change Cheyenne's diaper just in case. It was only wet, but I changed it anyway. After we got on the plane, just when it started to move to line-up to take off, Cheyenne decided it would be a good idea to poop all over me. It came out the sides and back of her diaper. It was the worst timing, because I was holding food I had gotten at the airport that I wanted to eat, and we were in line to take-off so it could be anywhere from 2-20 minutes before we got in the air but you can't get out of your seat until you are way up in the air. I tried to be patient, but it was seriously disgusting. The flight attendant just let me get up and change it anyway thankfully. I had to get up and walk down the aisle with a poopy baby and poop all over my pants! Oh well, at least her poop doesn't stink yet, it could have been worse. Other than that, it was a good rest of the flight but very long. It was great to see Jeff waiting for me at the airport at midnight even though he had to work the next day, he is the best husband ever! We missed him like crazy.  Ever since we got home, we have been so busy with trying to close on our house and other stuff I had gotten behind on. For those of you who made it to the end of this, I am very impressed!!
